Robert Parker: The Wine Advocate Review

We’re thrilled to share some wonderful news with you.
The Wine Advocate recently published tasting notes for our wines. In May, we had the pleasure of sitting down with critic Matthew Luczy to taste through Deaurātus’ current releases as well as a few barrel samples. Here are the results:

2023 Releases [click here for purchase]

  • 2023 Grenache Blanc, Michaud Vineyard – 92 pts
  • 2023 Chardonnay, Gali Vineyard – 94 pts
  • 2023 Zinfandel, Tzabaco Rancho Vineyards – 93 pts
  • 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon, Jillian Rose Vineyard – 94+ pts

2024 Barrel Samples

  • 2024 Grenache Blanc, Michaud Vineyard – 90–92 pts
  • 2024 Chardonnay, Michaud Vineyard – 91–93 pts
  • 2024 Syrah/Grenache, Michaud Vineyard – 93–95 pts
  • 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon, Mt. Veeder Vineyard – 94–96 pts

I was fortunate to sit down with long-time Ridge alums Eric Baugher and Shun Ishikubo to taste the inaugural releases of their Deaurātus label, as well as sample early snapshots of forthcoming wines.

Matthew LuczyReviewer / The Wine Advocate

As winemakers, we welcome the perspective of expert tasters like Matthew. But we don’t make wines for critics—we make wines that excite us, that we love to drink and share. That said, it’s rewarding to see our work recognized on this stage, and equally important, these reviews help bring attention to our small, startup winery as we continue to grow alongside more established names.

Many of you have already secured allocations of the 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder. This wine is evolving beautifully in barrel and will only gain depth in bottle. We can’t wait for you to taste it in the years to come—because at the end of the day, you are our most important critic. [Click here to learn more about our future program.]

Thank you, as always, for being part of our journey.

Warm regards,
Eric & Shun
